CSD in Hohenlockstedt

Hohenlockstedt – Hier wächst Vielfalt
On 20 June 2026, a Christopher Street Day (CSD) will take place in Hohenlockstedt for the very first time. Under the motto Hohenlockstedt – Diversity thrives here, a colourful parade will move through the town to create visibility for queer people and stand up for their rights. The travelling CSD of the Steinburg district is hosted in a different location each year. So far, it has taken place in Kellinghusen (2023), Itzehoe (2024) and Wacken (2025). Together with experienced cooperation partners and committed people from the region, the team of the Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung is organising the CSD in Hohenlockstedt. Afterwards, everyone is invited to the QUEER BAR in the garden of the M.1. With drinks and music, the day can come to a relaxed and celebratory close.

The family-friendly CSD under the motto Hohenlockstedt – Diversity thrives here begins with welcome speeches at 3:00 pm. Afterwards, the parade and demonstration march will make its way through the municipality. Both the starting point and the finish are at the Market Square in Hohenlockstedt. Following the parade, various initiatives and members of the queer community will present themselves with information stands on the Market Square. Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in conversations, ask questions, play games and make decorative pendants. From 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, a colourful concert programme will take place on stage. Afterwards, the QUEER BAR will be held in the covered garden of the Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung’s M.1 venue. With drinks and music, the day can be brought to a relaxed and celebratory close together. There will be time for informal conversations, networking and celebrating, and during the DJ set everyone whose legs are not yet tired is warmly invited to dance.

The CSD is a day of celebration, remembrance and demonstration for people of different sexual orientations and gender identities. Its origins lie in the resistance of homosexual people against a police raid on Christopher Street in New York in 1969. In the aftermath, the first groups of queer people were formed to demand tolerance and greater rights. Today, CSD events are established in many countries around the world as days on which people come together to campaign for rights and against discrimination and exclusion affecting lesbians, gay men, bisexual people, trans people and non-binary people — all of whom are often brought together under the self-chosen umbrella term “queer” — while also celebrating the diversity of their lived realities.
