About the Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung
The Arthur Boskamp Foundation is a non-profit organization for the advancement of visual art and culture. It was founded in 2003 from the estate of Arthur Boskamp. The M.1 center opened in 2007 and is operated by the foundation. Its team works in Hohenlockstedt and Berlin.
The Arthur Boskamp Foundation uses its capital to finance the following three programs at M.1:
- M.1 kuratieren: The position of Artistic Director at M.1 is appointed as a sort of curatorial grant for a period of one and a half years.
- Every two years, two advancement awards are given to visual artists who were born in, reside in or studied in northern Germany.
- The third, locally oriented program M.1 Lokal is situated at the interstices of art education, artistic training, social practice and amateur culture.
Aside from that, the Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung renovates the listed former soldiers' home of Fritz Höger, manages the artistic estate of its namesake Arthur Boskamp and maintains the historic M.1 building.
