Emilio Hernández Martínez (Oaxaca, 1990) is a researcher, designer, and educator exploring the intersections of future studies, transition design, and eco-pedagogies for care and healing. His research delves into the causes of socio-ecological degradation, integrating local knowledge and participatory art to co-design creative strategies that respond to environmental challenges. His practice combines radical pedagogies with new narratives in art-education projects that address themes like communality, epistemic justice and biocultural memory. He's the founder of Oaxaca’s Imagination Centre – school of artivists, and coordinator of creative research processes at the food and art research collective, Cocina Colaboratorio.
His current inquiry into pluriversal studies and "slow disasters" explores how soil (as a pedagogical and cultural agent) can mitigate cultural erosion amidst global crisis.
